The Golden State Warriors were a bit shorthanded Tuesday night in their home game against the visiting Atlanta Hawks, which explains why young big man Damian Jones had an extended run on the floor.

And though Stephen Curry and DeMarcus were not in uniform for that game due to their respective injuries, they tried to help their team, Jones in particular, by giving the third-year pro tips from the sidelines.

Jones is acting as DeMarcus Cousins’ placeholder at the center position. He has started in that spot for the Warriors’ first 15 games of the season, and it looks like his role is going to stay that way until at least once Cousins is ready to give it a go. However, Cousins’ date of return remains uncertain, as he tries to work his way back from a devastating Achilles injury he suffered last year. But at least he tries to lend some of his basketball wisdom to Damian Jones, who was selected by Golden State in the first round 30th overall back in the 2016 NBA Draft.

As for Stephen Curry, he’s also out with a groin injury, but he’s probably not going to need much time away from action, though, the Warriors may want to buy more time just to make sure that the two-time NBA MVP is completely fine before they let the sniper loose again.

Jones helped the Warriors win against Atlanta, 110-103, by chipping in two points, five rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal in 18 minutes of action.

The Warriors will have a full day of rest before hitting the court again on Thursday against the Houston Rockets on the road.
