When the Golden State Warriors drafted Jonathan Kuminga with the No. 7 pick, they knew they were getting a player full of potential. They didn't know they would be getting a 19-year-old who could play right away. The one thing that has earned him playing time during crucial points of games is his defense.

“We had him on DeRozan the other night, and we're going to keep putting him on the best players out there because he's got the physicality and the speed and athleticism to do that. … He's really got a chance to be special defensively,” Steve Kerr told ClutchPoints.

Legitimate two-way players can often be tough to find in the NBA Draft, but the Warriors might have hit the jackpot with Kuminga. Defense is one of the first things you notice when watching him play. He can do it all. He guards 1-4 and looks comfortable and confident no matter what position he's defending.

When pairing him with Draymond Green, the rookie can't help but learn and see up close how the veteran operates. Developing on the defensive end might be more important than the offensive side of things. Hopefully, Kuminga grows into the player Kerr thinks he can be. If he does, we might be looking at a future Defense Player of the Year winner.

Next, the Warriors, who are 11-2, will play against the Brooklyn Nets led by Kevin Durant. They are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference with a record of 10-4. If both teams continue their dominance, this could be an NBA Finals preview.
