Throughout his career as an analyst for TNT, Charles Barkley has made a number of bold and even controversial statements in the past. That happened once again on Thursday when he talked about the chances of the Golden State Warriors to repeat as champions.

Despite currently owning one of the best records in the league so far this season, Sir Charles cited their bench not being as strong as it was in previous seasons. He then said that the Houston Rockets’ improvement has made them “gain” on the Dubs; all these happened during Inside the NBA's broadcast on the night.

“The Warriors’ bench is not as good as it’s been, the improvement by the Houston Rockets, they have gained on the Golden State Warriors,” Barkley said.

The Rockets now have a half-game lead over the defending champions as James Harden and Chris Paul have proven that they can co-exist on the court. They have also won against the Warriors in two of the three times they have met this season, sending a strong message to them that the Rockets will make a strong run for the title once the playoffs start.

It still remains to be seen if Barkley's prediction will hold true or not. Golden State has four All-Stars in their fold and their championship experience could be enough to propel them back to the Finals. His bold claim may also serve as extra motivation for the Bay Area team to prove him wrong, and show everyone why they have two titles in the last three years.
