Golden State Warriors point guard D'Angelo Russell still has a good relationship with Brooklyn Nets combo guard Spencer Dinwiddie despite Dinwiddie recruiting Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to the Nets.

The Warriors and Nets completed a sign-and-trade deal this past summer which sent Russell to the Warriors and Durant to the Nets. Irving, Durant and DeAndre Jordan each signed four-year deals with Brooklyn, with Irving and Durant taking less than the max so the Nets could sign Jordan to his $40 million contract:

The Warriors reportedly weren’t looking to acquire Russell until he expressed interest in them. Russell agreed to a four-year, $117 million maximum contract with the Warriors.

Last season with the Nets, Russell made his first All-Star team. The lefty averaged 21.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists while shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Russell returns to the Barclays Center on Wednesday to face the Nets. He figures to get a loud ovation from the Brooklyn faithful.

There's a chance Russell is traded for the third time in his young career before Thursday's trade deadline. The Warriors have had trade talks centered on Russell with the Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks.

In 32 games for the Warriors this season, Russell is averaging 23.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists. The lefty is shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line.
