For the first time in three years, the Golden State Warriors will be heading into the 2019 NBA All-Star Game with only three representatives: Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Draymond Green, who has been selected as an All-Star the past two seasons, won't be joining them this year.
Draymond Green's early season struggles cost him a spot in the All-Star team, and his dust-up with Durant also might have hurt his chances. The three-time champion said himself that he doesn't deserve to be part of the 2019 All-Star Game.
Green is still getting his usual numbers though, averaging 7.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 7.2 assists. Nonetheless, the emergence of guys like Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic and San Antonio Spurs' LaMarcus Aldridge was more than enough for them to be picked as an All-Star ahead of Dray.
The 28-year-old forward, however, still has an integral role in helping the Warriors reach their ultimate goal this season: to win their third straight NBA title. Golden State has been playing better lately, winning 14 of their last 15 games, and Green has played a significant part in the team's recent success.
Green has always been seen as the glue guy that kept the Warriors together during their title runs, and he played that role very well the past couple of seasons. When the Dubs needed a spark on both ends of the floor, Dray usually shows up. While the spotlight has usually been shining on his teammates, Dray does all the little things that matter and that makes him a valuable piece in Golden State's dynasty.
He may not be an All-Star this year, but he can still end up as a champion.
