Draymond Green not concerning himself with what Warriors teammate Kevin Durant will do in free agency
The Golden State Warriors will be going up against the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Finals, and Game 1 of their best-of-seven series will begin later tonight. However, there are still some people out there who are concerned about the future of All-Star forward Kevin Durant.
KD is set to become a free agent after this series, and the consensus from around the league is that he will leave the Warriors and join the New York Knicks. Draymond Green was recently asked by ESPN’s Rachel Nichols on whether he has any idea on what Durant will do this summer, and he said he’s not really worried about it at the moment.
“I haven’t even really concerned myself with trying to have a clue with what he’s going to do because our mission is to win a championshup every year. And if he’s only here for three years and we win the championship in all three of those years then we have completed our mission. That’s just how I feel about it. So many times we want to look at what’s to come and not focus on what’s going on right now. So for me it’s like how about we focus on the mission of winning three championships in three years and let’s finish that mission first.”
Green’s play in the postseason speaks volumes about his focus on winning a championship. He’s not worried about what the Warriors’ roster will look like after this season, all he cares about is accomplishing the task at hand; and that’s to win a third straight title.
Besides, he already made himself clear when he had that feud with Durant earlier in the season. He reportedly told KD “We don’t need you because we won without you,”
So this is him reminding everyone about his stand on this matter.
