It looks like we finally have some clarity on what Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green yelled at rookie James Wiseman that got him ejected against the New York Knicks last January.

In the middle of a 119-104 loss, Green was ejected by the referees after going on a NSFW tirade on the rookie following a botched pass attempt. Wiseman reflected on the ejection with Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated:

“Damn rook, catch the damn ball,” Green said, as quoted by the Warriors rookie. “The ref called a tech on Dray, thinking that Dray was talking to the ref…”

There is a whole diatribe that can be breached about the relationship between players and referees, especially amid the growing tensions related to quicker fouls and techs called.

However, more notable is Draymond Green's treatment of James Wiseman, who was drafted to be the Warriors' center of the future. The rookie has shown isolated flashes of brilliance, but he has largely disappointed thus far in his career, averaging 11.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in limited minutes.

His defensive instincts have been called out for an aggressive predilection for fouls, and Wiseman hasn't been nearly as efficient as the Warriors would have liked, especially since they had the chance to draft the presumptive rookie of the year Lamelo Ball.

Green, as the Warriors' starting center du jour, is right in giving tough love to the player that is meant to be his heir apparent in the Golden State hierarchy. You can bet that Wiseman is now familiar with Green's brand of mentorship. If the young gun is able to take Green's advice to heart and partner it with his prodigious gifts and potential, the Dubs might have a stud on them yet.
