Draymond Green has been in his fair share of on-court altercations throughout his career. This is exactly why the Golden State Warriors star had a few things to say about the fight that went down between LeBron James and Isaiah Stewart.
Green drew from his own personal experience as he provided a bit of advice for Stewart. The Warriors star went all the way back to the 2016 NBA Finals against LeBron and his Cavs. According to Green, he still regrets poking the bear to this very day:
“Isaiah, take it from me. I got into it with LeBron James roughly five years ago,” Green said in the most recent episode of The Draymond Green Show. “And it didn't go so well for me. Not that ‘Bron kicked my ass. But he did kick my ass not physically, though, he did kick my ass because he came back from a 3-1 deficit to win a world championship and that shit still stings today.”
Green has always been an instigator and he definitely has a knack for getting under his opponents' skin. Unfortunately for him and the Warriors, this did not exactly work too well for him when he tried his antics against LeBron James. Instead of distracting The King from his team's objectives, Green's antics ended up motivating LeBron to lead Cleveland to a historic comeback in the Finals. As he said, that decision still haunts Green to this very day.
In this respect, the Dubs veteran dropped a bit of knowledge on Stewart given the youngster's current predicament:
“As someone who has gotten into it with King James on the floor,” Green continued, “Isaiah, just a little word of advice: it's not really worth the time. It's not really worth the effort and the energy he spent to get to all of those people only to end up paying two game checks.”
Interestingly enough, Isaiah Stewart returned from a two-game suspension on Friday. The 20-year-old did show some remorse for his actions against LeBron but he still remains adamant that the punch was NOT unintentional. The Pistons face off against the Lakers on Sunday and it will be interesting to see how Stewart and James interact throughout the contest.
