Golden State Warriors fans received a scare when they watched as Stephen Curry hobbled around on the court in the second half of Wednesday's loss to the Dallas Mavs. Curry, who suffered a quad contusion, has a “chance” of sitting out Thursday's against the New Orleans Pelicans, the second game of a back-to-back. Ahead of the game, the Warriors ruled out their star guard, as reported by Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. After the update on his playing status, here's the Curry injury play that will keep him out of the contest against the Pelicans.

Here's a closer look at the play from the Warriors-Mavs game that caused the Stephen Curry injury, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Curry appeared to collide with Mavs forward Dorian Finney-Smith, whose knee hit Curry right on the quad.

Curry was visibly in pain and honestly admitted after the game that he “wasn't optimistic” about playing on Thursday, which in hindsight, was a wise statement. Curry further spoke on his injury, saying that he is hopeful it won't linger.

While the injury will force Curry to miss the Pelicans game, the actions of the Warriors seem to support the sentiment that the injury won't linger, as the sharpshooter was able to finish out Wednesday's game.

In perhaps their first real taste of adversity, the Warriors will have to play in a game without their MVP-candidate and leader, Stephen Curry.
