It seems as though James Wiseman is still not at a hundred percent 11 days after he injured his wrist in-game on January 30. It was Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr who broke the news ahead of the Warriors' Thursday night game against the Orlando Magic.
According to Kerr, their prized rookie is scheduled to be re-evaluated before Thursday's game but he's already saying that Wiseman will definitely be out of Thursday and is also unlikely to suit up against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.
“Doubtful against the Nets,” Kerr said of Wiseman (via Yahoo!). “He’ll be re-evaluated tomorrow. We’ll see what the doctor says. I doubt he plays anytime in the next few days. It’s all up to the specialist that he’s going to see tomorrow.”
Wiseman has missed the Warriors' last five games after aggravating his wrist against the Detroit Pistons. Initially, it was reported that this year's second overall pick was set to miss 7-10 days but 11 days in, he still seems to be unfit to suit up.
The Warriors have definitely missed Wiseman's size down low with fellow center Kevon Looney is also dealing with an ankle issue. It's been Draymond Green who's been starting at the five spot for Kerr as Golden State continues to run their ultra-small ball line-up to cope with their empty frontcourt.
Wiseman's injury is the newest hurdle the 2020-21 Warriors have needed to overcome. It's been a rocky season for the 2018 champs as they try to climb their way back to playoff contention. Hopefully, they get their rookie back in no time.
