JaVale McGee has seen his Golden State Warriors team undefeated since being named the starting center following the All-Star break.

While he's still playing less than 20 minutes every game, as usual per his asthma issues, McGee admitted he does indeed do something different this time around with the responsibility of being in the starting lineup — a place many fans have clamored for in the past season-and-change.

“Yeah, I take my energy drink earlier,” McGee said jokingly to Connor LeTourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle.

Even if he wasn't joking, it looks like he actually does, as the Warriors have only trailed after the end of the first quarter in one of the seven games since the break — a major reason why Steve Kerr inserted the energetic McGee into the lineup.

McGee had perhaps his best game as a starter against the San Antonio Spurs, matching up against LaMarcus Aldridge, who can be a load to handle at the defensive end.

The seven-footer went back-and-forth in a chess match with Aldridge, first blocking one of his mid-range jump shots in the first quarter, getting a foul called on him, getting scored on with Aldridge's patented running hook, and then adapting and blocking it out of bounds the next time.

McGee finished with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line, seven rebounds, and four blocks in his 17 minutes on the floor — a major reason why the Warriors were able to pull through despite being thin on the frontline with the absences of David West and Jordan Bell.
