The Golden State Warriors are back atop the NBA world after capturing their fourth championship over the last eight seasons Thursday night. They defeated the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. Once again, the stars were stars as Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green led them to another title.

Some people want to try and take away some of the credit, claiming that the Warriors bought this championship. After all, Andrew Wiggins and his max contract, alongside the contracts of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson eat up a ton of salary. But Warriors majority owner Joe Lacob fired back at the notion that this title was something that was bought.

The Athletic's Anthony Slater captured his thoughts.

“We wouldn’t spend that kind of money on the roster if we didn’t think we had a chance to win. When you do think you have a chance to go far and compete for a championship, our belief is we are going to do everything we can, use every last dollar. A lot of teams can’t do that or won’t do that, I guess… That’s a joke; I think it’s ridiculous. All of our players are guys that we drafted or minimum signings except for one (Wiggins) trade. One trade and no free agent beyond the minimum. How can you say we bought the title? It’s crazy.”

His argument didn't even include the fact that Wiggins was labeled a bust before joining Golden State. It was the Warriors franchise that helped him take his play to the next level.

In sports, as in life, winners write the stories. This Warriors franchise has earned the right to tell this story how they want it told.
