SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden State Warriors got their first win of the postseason since 2019 on Saturday, and Jordan Poole was able to observe the playoff version of Draymond Green. It was a dominant performance by the Warriors, led by Poole’s game-high 30 points, and Green’s overall impact on the game also propelled the Dubs to a victory. After the game, the Milwaukee native explained the difference in Green’s energy in Game 1.
“You feel it. He stepped it up a notch,” Poole told ClutchPoints. “Him being our leader, we feed off his energy and being able to see head honcho go out there, be aggressive, knockdown huge shots against the MVP, we feed off that. Being able to have the force that he is back there and the way he controls our offense helps us a lot.”

Green finished the night with 12 points, nine assists, and six rebounds. He did so while helping the team slow down reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. The Denver Nuggets big man finished the game with 25 points on 25 shots.
The Warriors were without Green for all four regular-season games against the Nuggets. They lost three out of the four contests. When he's in the lineup, the Warriors are a different team, and it showed in Game 1. Denver didn't have any answers for Green and the Warriors in a 123-107 blowout.
The two teams meet again inside the Chase Center on Monday. Although the Warriors put on a dominant performance in Game 1, you can expect Denver to put up a better fight in Game 2 after making some adjustments. Golden State will need another locked-in performance by Green to go up 2-0.
