When Kevin Durant decided to join the Golden State Warriors in 2016 after being ousted by the Dubs in the Western Conference Playoffs as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the NBA was turned upside-down.

Durant was the Thunder’s best player and of the brightest stars in the NBA, and he decided to join a team that had just defeated him in heartbreaking fashion. It was a wild moment in NBA history, and it has led to a juggernaut dynasty — though this season has somewhat frayed a team once thought unbeatable.

Though Durant is playing extraordinarily well this season, there is one aspect of his game that is not quite up to the level we’ve come to expect from KD in recent years: 3-point shooting.

This season, KD is only shooting 34.9 percent from downtown — which is his lowest percent from deep since his rookie season over 10 years ago(when the Thunder were still the Seattle Supersonics. In his age-19 rookie year, KD only shot 28.8 percent from deep. Ever since then, however, he has never dipped below 35 percent from beyond the arc in his career.

Despite a down year from 3-point territory, Durant scaled up to 25th on the all-time 3-pointers made list against the Memphis Grizzlies, passing Glen Rice in the process.

Beyond that, Kevin Durant started scorching hot from the field, with a perfect 10 of 10 shooting night to start the game with 21 points.

By the time all is said and done, Durant will likely be remembered as one of the greatest players in NBA history. Tonight, with his 3-point shooting, he further etched his name into the record books.
