Kevon Looney agreed to return to the Golden State Warriors this offseason, and the Dubs have Looney's mom to thank for it.

In an interview with ABC7's With Authority podcast, per Eric Ting of SF Gate, Looney revealed that his mother pushed him to return to the Warriors. Although he revealed there were no real intentions for him to go away, he emphasized his mother had a big part on his decision.

“It was a happy moment to tell them [the Warriors] made an offer I wanted and I could take,” Looney said of discussions with his family. “They've been living out here since I've been here; they want to stay here. ‘Don't go nowhere else,' they've been telling me. ‘I want you to stay in the Bay Area, we want to keep living here.'”

“She was pushing the Warriors the whole time and she got what she wanted. And when your mom's happy, you can be happy.”

Looney signed a three-year, $15 million deal to return to Golden State next season. The Warriors drafted him with the 30th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, and he has since established himself as a focal point of the Dubs.

Golden State head coach Steve Kerr even called Looney a “foundational piece,” so it's no surprise that the Warriors wanted to bring him back.

Looney figures to have a bigger role with the Dubs next season, especially after the departures of Jordan Bell, Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala in the offseason.

The 23-year-old averaged 6.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game last season — all career highs. He also shot particularly well, registering a 62.5 percent shooting clip.
