Former Boston College star guard Ky Bowman is perfectly accustomed to being labeled an underdog. After all, there was not a whole lot to love about an Eagles team that went 14-17 and just 5-13 in ACC play last season. However, Bowman developed a reputation as a gamer. The Havelock, NC native averaged 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists while being named to the All-ACC Second Team.

Despite his outstanding performance and his ridiculous rebounding ability as a 6'1″ guard, Bowman went undrafted this summer. But he would not be unemployed for long.

The Golden State Warriors signed Bowman to a two-way contract in July, and Bowman told Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe that he is thrilled to join the organization.

“A lot of people don’t get here, it still doesn’t feel real, but it’s an honor to get here,” Bowman said. “I’m trying to embrace every moment, trying to pick up things from the guys who are here. Even when I am guarding [Curry] learning different moves that he’s doing, things I’m trying to work on to become as good as a player.”

While Bowman is used to proving himself, the Warriors are entering uncharted territory from an organizational standpoint.

Golden State practically held things down as the “evil empire” of the NBA over the last half decade, dominating all of their Western Conference foes while repeatedly being a favorite to win the NBA title. However, the loss to the Toronto Raptors in June as well as Kevin Durant signing with the Brooklyn Nets has created a feeling that the dynasty is officially over in the Bay Area.

Much like Bowman, the Warriors have a lot to prove this season.
