The NBA recently handed down Golden State Warriors forward Marquese Chriss a hefty $35,000 fine for his involvement in a recent scuffle with Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic last Saturday.

The 22-year-old University of Washington product was not happy with his sanction and will reportedly appeal for the fine to be reduced.

Per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the representation for Chriss is now in communication with league and NBPA on clarification as to why their client received such a hefty fine from the Doncic hit. The group is making a case that the altercation did not even merit a flagrant foul during the game and should not be given such harsh punishment.

The league later clarified that the fine was based on Chriss's prior infractions, as he was also flagged for several other occasions for physical altercations on the court last season.

It is also worth noting that Chriss signed a minimum of 1-year, $1,678,854 contract with the Warriors in the offseason.

After being picked eighth overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2016 before being traded to the Phoenix Suns, the 6'9″ high-flyer has had inconsistent showing in his four seasons in the league. His freakish athleticism has earned him some starter minutes in his early days with Phoenix, but soon found himself outside the team's plans for the future.

He had rather forgettable stints with the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers before being a last-minute signee by the Warriors after proving himself in training camp. With the current state of Steve Kerr's roster, Chriss has earned himself some playing time and is notching  7.4 points and 5.3 rebounds off the bench.
