If the NBA ever happens to be worried about any dads following in the footsteps of Big Baller Brand founder LaVar Ball in the future, the league shouldn't have to worry about former Los Angeles Lakers legend Mychal Thompson.

In a recent interview with Bay Area radio station 95.7 The Game, Mychal opened up about how his son, Golden State Warriors star shooting guard Klay Thompson, would react if he acted like LaVar does with sons Lonzo Ball, LiAngelo Ball and LaMelo Ball.

“Man, if I tried one one-hundredth of what LaVar does, Klay would disown me as a parent,” he joked. “My wife always asks them, ‘What if your dad was like LaVar?' They say, ‘Oh, we'd have nothing to do with him.' So, no. I wouldn't even try that. That's not me. I couldn't do that. I would feel like I'm putting too much pressure on my kid.”

Mychal went on to add that he already had his time with the Showtime Lakers and it was his sons' Klay, Mychel and Trayce's time in the spotlight now.

“I don’t want that kind of attention. I had my time. My time is long over,” he said. “It’s Klay’s time and these other now new generation’s time. Let all the attention be on them. They deserve it. Not me.”

The elder Thompson, who won back-to-back championship titles with the Lakers in 1987 and 1988, seems perfectly happy with letting his sons handle their own business.
