Former head coach, now NBA TV analyst Sam Mitchell wasn't fond of Steve Kerr's strategy to lay off coaching his Golden State Warriors against the Phoenix Suns on Monday night.

The Warriors found major success with a 46-point rout of the Suns, grabbing major momentum before a road game against the Portland Trail Blazers before going into the All-Star break — but that wasn't enough to justify Kerr's actions, according to Mitchell.

“I have nothing to say,” said Mitchell. “For the people who think this is great, just let someone with no experience come to show up at their job and that's not what they do and you let them do your job.”

“Look, I understand Steve Kerr's been winning, he has two championship rings, he's been to three Finals and Golden State can do what they wanna do… If they win Smitty, do I even need to coach them? Why don't I just pay Kevin Durant an extra mill and say ‘you be the player-coach now'?”

Kerr's strategy worked out better than expected, giving the Warriors a season-high differential after making the right adjustments after every quarter, even limiting the hapless Suns to 12 points in the fourth.

Some took issue with it like Jared Dudley, who later admitted his team's incompetence was deserving of that humiliation, while his coach Jay Triano and teammate Devin Booker, who did not play for a fourth straight game, said they were okay with Kerr trying to reach his team in a totally different way.
