The Golden State Warriors announced that they have assigned their guard Jacob Evans III to the team's G League team in Santa Cruz the team announced Monday on their official website.

Evans had played in 23 games with the Warriors this season. He's averaged 0.6 points, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game while averaging only 4.3 minutes played. He was originally selected with the 28th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Through eight games and three starts with Santa Cruz this season Evans III has played very well. He's averaged 9.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and one steal every game while playing 23.2 minutes a night.

The Warriors needed to clear a roster spot when they reactivated their center, DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins had been injured since halfway through the 2017-18 season. He was playing with the New Orleans Pelicans last season with all-star big man Anthony Davis.

He decided to sign with the Warriors on a one year $5 million contract. This allowed him to rehab and prepare for a playoff run.

The Warriors really need Cousins as they've struggled to remain consistent this season. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have had subpar seasons to their standards. Each has the worst shooting percentages of their entire careers. Without any depth off the bench, the team has had to rely on big games from Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant every night.

Cousins allows head coach Steve Kerr to stagger his stars minutes to keep them fresh moving forward.

The Warriors are now 32-14 on the season and sit in the fourth seed of the NBA's Western Conference.
