Steve Kerr's four years as an NBA coach have included three championships and just one Finals loss (in a Game 7). Sure, he has a roster with loads of talent at his disposal, but there's no doubting the man's ability to bring that collective talent together.

The Warriors recently signed Kerr to a contract extension, and for good reason. Backup guard Shaun Livingston fully supports the organization's decision to keep Kerr around. Livingston spoke to Michael Scotto of The Athletic about his coach.

“Shout out to Steve Kerr for dealing with all our B.S. this year,” Livingston said. “As far as the comment, it was more about getting us motivated for the whole season because that was the roughest season that we had just being able to get motivated to play,” Livingston explained on Thursday. “More of our mentality to approach each game like it was our last. We just didn’t have that mentality. We didn’t have the mentality of maybe playing hard for 100 percent of the possessions throughout the regular season. He had to do a lot of motivating.”

It's nice that the Warriors have the ability to turn it on and off seemingly at will, but it can't be easy for Kerr when his team underperforms. Motivating a complacent group and keeping them engaged are two of the tougher tasks for Kerr.

But regardless, Kerr seems to always get the job done. The Warriors were a team trending upward when they canned Mark Jackson and brought on Kerr. They've never looked back.

Livingston told Scotto:

“As far as his extension, the proof is in the pudding. Three championships in four years, what he’s been able to create on the offensive level for this team, and just his relationship as far as managing personalities and managing egos. I think that’s incredibly important. You look at the greats, Phil Jackson, Gregg Popovich, managing egos, it’s more of a management position, as opposed to Xs and Os. He’s gotten everything he’s deserved, and he’s earned it.”

No doubt about it. The proof is in the pudding. Of course, Kerr is blessed with an insanely talented roster and the good fortune of Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins. But championships are not won in July. Kerr has done a fantastic job at managing his players and putting them in a position to succeed.
