Golden State Warriors guard Shaun Livingston will not be playing Monday when the defending champions continue their road trip with a game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Steve Kerr told Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

The Warriors are apparently sticking with their plan to rest the 32-year-old guard even though Livingston had minimal work done on the court during Sunday’s 123-95 win over the Miami Heat after getting ejected in the first half of the contest.

Livingston was thrown out of the Miami game after going forehead-to-forehead with referee Courtney Kirkland following what the guard felt was a missed call on the part of the said game official.

Against the Heat, Livingston spent just six minutes on the floor, going 0-for-2 from the field and chipping in just two assists.

Livingston, who is averaging just 4.9 points and 2.0 assists on 15.6 minutes per game as Stephen Curry’s chief reliever, is expected to be back in harness this coming Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets on the road.

For the meantime, some more playing time could open up for Patrick McCaw and Nick Young while Livingston is being kept on the sidelines. McCaw and Young played for 19 and 15 minutes, respectively, against the Heat, and combined for 10 points.

The Warriors are 4-1 in their last five games away from Oracle Arena.
