The Golden State Warriors were able to acquire D'Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade with the Brooklyn Nets this summer, and he's expected to play alongside Stephen Curry for the majority of the season while Klay Thompson recovers from his ACL injury.

Luckily for the Warriors, Curry said his relationship with Russell is off to a good start.

“We played a couple of times, worked out a couple of times over the summer and we had a lot of conversations about what it could look like. These next three weeks will be important for us to create a vibe and continue to build chemistry. [I'm] Excited about some of the stuff we talked about and the options we have to kinda work off each other.

There's gonna be a lot of fine tuning and testing things out, but at the end of the day, [we're] two talented guys who know how to put the ball in the basket, who know how to make plays for each other and our teammates. We have proven what we can do in this league and we have the confidence we'll figure it out.”

Russell made the All-Star team for the first time in his career in 2018-19, as he led the Nets to the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Although he will never be considered as an upgrade over Kevin Durant — who opted to sign with the Nets — Russell is still one of the best guards in the league and will definitely learn a lot from playing with Steph and under Steve Kerr with the Warriors.
