The Golden State Warriors are now also feeling the effects of what appears to be a full-blown COVID-19 outbreak within the NBA. It's going to be a tough stretch ahead for the 25-6 Dubs as they look to navigate the coming weeks with a shorthanded lineup.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, 6-foot-5 shooting guard Damion Lee has now been placed in the league's health and safety protocols:

Lee has played a key role for the Warriors of late. The 29-year-old was inserted into the starting lineup for the past two contests and played heavy minutes in both games.

As the above report states, Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole are both already sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols, with Lee being the third Warriors player on the list. Klay Thompson's highly anticipated debut has been pushed back to January, while James Wiseman remains on the shelf.

To be fair, there are a lot of other teams out there that have it worse compared to the Warriors. Opposing sides have resorted to the league's hardship exception rule to sign new players amid the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases throughout the NBA. It would not be surprising if the Dubs follow suit.

At this point, all we can hope for the Warriors is that their remaining available players are able to keep healthy. Stephen Curry is having another MVP-caliber campaign, and it would be a shame if his exceptional season comes to an abrupt halt.

The Warriors are set to face off against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday. They then return to action on Christmas Day in a marquee matchup against Chris Paul and the defending Western Conference champion Phoenix Suns.
