Stephen Curry has been playing his mind out for the Golden State Warriors to start the season. So much so, that Steph has propelled himself as the frontrunner for this season's Most Valuable Player award, overtaking the likes of Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Another superstar that Curry has left in the dust in terms of the early-season MVP race is none other than the Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James. According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, this might actually hold some weight on Steph's mind right now.

Speaking to Damon and Ratto of 95.7 The Game, Kerr recently revealed how Curry has not lost one bit of his competitive spirit now that he's on his 13th season in the NBA. As a matter of fact, coach Kerr believes that at this point in his career, the seven-time All-Star is as motivated as ever:

“When I say Steph is competitive on a lot of different levels, that's kind of what I mean,” Kerr said (h/t Josh Schrock of NBC Sports). “He finds ways to motivate himself and it's not fake. It's real. He wants to win a championship. He wants to beat the best teams. He wants to let other players in the league know that he's still got it.”

Curry lost a bit of his luster over the past few years with the Warriors missing out on the playoffs two seasons in a row. As such, some were quick to count Curry out while completely ignoring the fact that he's just a few years removed from bagging back-to-back (and unanimous) MVP honors.

As Steve Kerr said above, Curry takes all of these in and he uses them to fuel his motivation. Kerr also hinted at the fact that right now, Steph still has a huge LeBron-sized chip on his shoulder:

“He's going to take on the challenge whether it's LeBron [James] or one of the best players in the league, or a young guy like Trae who is up and coming and maybe following in Steph's footsteps,” Kerr added. “All of that stuff factors in and is one of the reasons he is as great as he is. It goes so far beyond the skill. It's the competitive desire and the belief in himself that he can follow through on that competitiveness.”

The great ones always find ways to keep themselves motivated and for his part, Stephen Curry is no exception. Aside from LeBron, who Curry has battled on the grandest of stages several times over, the Warriors superstar also has the younger generation in his crosshairs. The Hawks' Trae Young is one of them, and Curry absolutely showed him up when the Dubs took on Atlanta on Monday. Steph produced a vintage performance for the Warriors en route to an epic 50-point explosion right in front of a player that some consider to be his protege.

Needless to say, Stephen Curry is not done just yet. If you actually thought that he was, then I'm afraid you completely missed the ball on that one.
