Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is set to miss a few months as a result of a broken hand, but while the 2019-20 NBA campaign may be a lost cause for the two-time MVP, the 2020 Olympics are still on the horizon.

Curry's father, former NBA player Dell Curry, says that his son's goal is to play in the Olympics in Tokyo next summer:

“Absolutely. That was definitely a goal coming into this year. He wants to play in the Olympics,” Dell Curry told ESPN's The Undefeated on Friday night. “This is a little setback, but hopefully it's a goal he can strive for through his rehab.”

Dell also feels that Stephen should take his time in coming back from his injury:

“Anytime you have a major surgery like that, even with a hand, he's doing the best he can,” said Dell Curry, now a television color commentator for the Charlotte Hornets. “It was a tough, tough injury, but he's doing the best he can. Three to four months, not sure when he is going to come back. Has to take his time and come back with it.”

Curry suffered the injury during the Warriors' double-digit loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, when Suns center Aron Baynes landed on Curry in the third quarter.

Luckily for Curry, it was his non-shooting hand, but he still had to undergo surgery and will be sidelined for at least three months.

With the Warriors starting the season 1-4 and not even resembling a playoff team in the Western Conference, perhaps Steph should follow his father's advice and take as much time as possible before returning to the hardwood.
