Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr acknowledges the tough road ahead for the Dubs, especially after the injuries to Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.

Kerr claims that the Warriors are in “new territory,” emphasizing that losing two of their best players in back-to-back games is “unheard of.”

Durant suffered a ruptured Achilles in Game 5 while Thompson tore his ACL in Game 6. The two, who are set to be free agents this summer, are expected to be sidelines for the majority, if not the whole 2018-19 season.

While the Warriors have reiterated their desire to re-sign Klay and KD, there are certainly plenty of questions on how they will perform without the two stars (whether they re-sign or not) next season.

Kerr has already said that it is possible that the Warriors will look a lot different next season, thanks in large part to their injuries. However, the current situation certainly doesn't raise their hopes up.

What happened with the Warriors is something that never happened before. For them to lose two of their best players in consecutive games of the Finals is very unfortunate. Not only did it affect the outcome of their season, but it will also have a lasting impact on their future.

All of a sudden, the once dominant Golden State looks like a team that has little to no direction. Of course, they will still compete next season, but whether they can be a playoff team with the guys that they have now remains to be seen.
