Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was faced with a tough decision back in 2014 when deciding which NBA team's sideline he was going to pace. Kerr was reportedly close to signing with the New York Knicks, who were being run by Kerr's former Chicago Bulls head coach Phil Jackson. Kerr dropped a truth bomb on why he went with the Warriors over Jackson's Knicks.

Now that is ironic! Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked which job he though Phil Jackson would take while considering a job- the Knicks head coaching role- that would have him work for Jackson.

Kerr said he heeded the advice of a good friend and went with the job that he thought Jackson would have taken, essentially spurning the ex-Bulls head coach in the process.

However, Kerr's logic for going with the Warriors over the New York job, besides the fact that the Knicks are the Knicks (sorry guys), was sound. The former Bull figured that Jackson went with the Bulls because of the potentially elite talent they had, which is also why Pat Riley chose to coach the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kerr bet on the young Warriors' talent over the players assembled on the Knicks by Jackson- and boy, does that bet look good years later.

The Knicks have since cycled through various head coaches while the Warriors have won three NBA championships since that point. Kerr acknowledges that there's a chance that could have been him had he taken the job with Jackson and New York.

So, Steve Kerr decided to coach the Warriors and not Phil Jackson's Knicks because it's what he felt Jackson would have done. Brilliant.
