According to Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, fans shouldn't expect star shooting guard Klay Thompson to return anytime soon.
Kerr also mentioned how important getting back two-time MVP Stephen Curry will be for the team at the end of the season.
Last season, the Warriors made their fifth-consecutive NBA Finals appearance, only losing to the Toronto Raptors after a series of injuries to their top stars.
This 2019-20 campaign, however, it has been a completely different story. Injuries to their star-studded backcourt and the departure of superstar Kevin Durant have left the Warriors into a shell of its old self.
Led by Draymond Green and a whole bunch of unproven talent, the Warriors have faltered to a league-worst 12-41 record with hopes of a playoff berth nearly mathematically impossible.
Klay Thompson being out for the season certainly hurts Golden State in the second half of the season, as the five-time All-Star's importance to the team is immeasurable. Last year, 6-foot-6 shooting guard averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from deep.
If there is a bit of good news for the Warriors, it is the fact that Curry is looking well on his way to returning after the hand injury he suffered in October of 2019.
