Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors were understandably upbeat in their last two contests after superstar Stephen Curry returned from a tailbone injury. While they did split those two games, the Dubs finally looked like a competitive team who can make a run for a playoff spot in the stacked Western Conference.

However, that celebration was short-lived after Curry was once again out of the lineup against the Toronto Raptors on Friday. Without the two-time MVP leading the way, the Dubs endured their most demoralizing defeat in franchise history, succumbing to a humiliating 130-77 outcome at Amalie Arena.

Coach Kerr, who has kept a positive attitude throughout the Warriors' struggles since last season, admitted there is no time for joy after suffering a pounding that they just took.

“There are times for humor, there are times for joy and there are times for serious discussion and soul-searching,” Steve Kerr said, per The Athletic's Anthony Slater. “This is a time for soul-searching.”

It truly is a travesty to see how the once-mighty Warriors have fallen in recent times. They were expected to be terrible last season, but the 2020-21 campaign was supposed to be their year of redemption. That arc hasn't exactly played out so far, as they continue plummeting down the Western Conference Standings.

While they are technically still in position for a play-in spot with a 23-26 slate (10th in the West), the Dubs must find a way to establish an identity without Curry on the floor. The 33-year-old superstar has bailed them out countless times with his virtuoso performances this campaign, but it's clear they are going nowhere with him sidelined.

Steve Kerr understands this dilemma and will do whatever it takes to salvage this season.
