As part of the Golden State Warriors' efforts to closely monitor DeMarcus Cousins' health, head coach Steve Kerr has announced that the former All-Star will not be playing in any of their back-to-back games for the remainder of the season.

Prior to his return last January 19, Cousins missed almost 11 months due to the Achilles injury he suffered in February last year while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans. It was initially reported that he would miss the entire season while recovering from it, but obviously he came back earlier than expected.

Cousins has been pretty impressive so far for the Warriors, averaging 15.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.2 steals in 23 games. But while he continues to try to regain his dominant form, the Warriors are obviously taking extra precautionary measures to make sure that he's 100 percent ready, especially since the playoffs are just a few weeks away.

When Golden State signed Cousins last summer, he was promised that he will be given the opportunity to prove himself to the league, and that's what they've done so far. He is part of their quest to win a third straight title this year, but whatever happens afterwards regarding his free agency is still up in the air.

Cousins has fit in well with the Dubs, and is obviously motivated for two reasons; proving his doubters wrong and making sure that he wins a championship in the process.
