To the surprise of many, Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins was named an All-Star Game starter last week. While there was some skepticism since he's averaging around 18 points per game this season, Wiggins has stepped up his play since the announcement and proven exactly why he's been given the honor.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr spoke out on how that All-Star nod has instilled a huge amount of confidence in Wiggins, who is putting up wild numbers across the last week.

Via 95.7 The Game:

“Andrew’s just the most modest, humble guy,” Kerr said. “I do think that being named an All-Star starter has infused him with more confidence than ever. He’s looked so good a week ago when he was named an All-Star. He’s shooting the lights out, he’s just playing with such ease and confidence.”

The Canadian has played three games since getting named to the starting five for the prestigious event in Cleveland. During that span, the Warriors swingman is averaging 22 points, six assists, and 5.3 rebounds on a mind-boggling 54.5% clip from downtown. He's also shooting 54% from the field.

Wiggins obviously hasn't had the easiest road from being a No. 1 overall pick. He's never really developed into the superstar that many hoped he would one day be, but the 26-year-old has found his niche on the Warriors. He's a crucial piece of their success on both ends of the floor and one of Steph Curry's most important running mates.

Let's hope he can show out at the All-Star Game and proved he belongs.
