The Golden State Warriors currently own the Minnesota Timberwolves' Top-3 protected pick for the 2021 NBA Draft. They also have a highly-promising big man in rookie James Wiseman. The general belief is that if the Dubs intend to trade for a star prior to the March 25 trade deadline, they will need to part ways with one or even both assets.

As it turns out, however, Golden State does not intend to include the pick and/or Wiseman in any deal unless they are able to get a bona fide superstar in return. This insider report comes via Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle:

According to a team source, the Warriors ‘almost definitely’ wouldn’t surrender that Timberwolves selection or Wiseman unless they got back someone generational such as Joel Embiid or Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Dubs aren't getting Embiid or Antetokounmpo. Neither are on the block and it's virtually impossible for the Warriors to get their hands on either star. The Wolves pick and Wiseman are valuable assets, but opposing teams probably won't want to part ways with an Embiid or Giannis-caliber superstar in exchange for the same.

What this report seems to imply, however, is that Golden State is indeed looking to strengthen its squad for the second half of the season. They are well within a playoff spot in the West, and the addition of another star should propel them into contention. It remains to be seen, though, if there is any other team out there willing to strike a deal with the Dubs at this point.
