Willie Cauley-Stein credited Draymond Green for the recent defensive improvement the Golden State Warriors have shown, resulting in their first win streak of the 2019-20 season.

The 7-foot center was quick to point out that Green has instilled communication in these Warriors' newcomers, a tool they're growing adept to using.

“I think that's why that last week, two weeks, that's why you've seen that production in blocks. It's because of Draymond,” Cauley-Stein told Garry St. Jean of NBC Sports Bay Area after a 113-104 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday.

“He's on the weak side telling me like ‘yo, yo, yo, yo, you got it! you got it! It matters, man. You got that confidence to just go and block stuff, knowing he's got your back on the back side. That's what it's about.”

Cauley-Stein had been long criticized for his lackluster shot-blocking presence for an athletic 7-footer, but he's quickly demonstrated he can go get some shots at the rim with the right defensive core around him.

The Kentucky product is blocking a career-high 1.4 shots per game through 28 appearances this season, already racking up 39 rejections this season and well on his way to a career-best campaign in that department. WCS mustered only 51 blocked shots through 81 games last season as part of the Sacramento Kings porous defense, but he's likely to fearlessly get more, knowing Green is there to rotate if he whiffs on the attempt.

Cauley-Stein is blocking 1.8 shots per game in December and has blocked at least three shots in four of his last six games — a sign of his steady improvement after gaining some cohesiveness with his new team.
