Maccabi Tel Aviv teenage star Deni Avdija's draft stock has risen fairly steadily in recent months, and it seems likely he will be off the board early later this month.

Ethan Strauss of The Athletic reported a number of teams have interest in Avdija, including the likes of the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Detroit Pistons, all teams with high draft picks.

However, Strauss also reported Avdija apparently would prefer to land with the Golden State Warriors. Given the Dubs have the No. 2 pick, this certainly seems possible:

So far, Avdija’s rumored preference is for the Warriors, and he’s undoubtedly not alone in that predilection. I don’t believe I’m hewing to hometown bias when I make the observation that the Warriors are unusually appealing among high draft pick teams, maybe historically so. While it might have little bearing on how they actually perform next season, the Warriors are still perceived as a glamor franchise, blessed with championship pieces. That’s more appealing than the standard prospect path of toiling in obscurity until your team gets good enough.

Strauss alludes to the fact the Warriors are expected to jump back into contention next year with healthy versions of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in tow.

In fact, that notion has led to plenty speculation as to whether the Warriors would attempt to trade back. That possibility could still be on the table, but there is plenty reason to suggest Golden State could draft Avdija.

The Warriors have scouted the Israeli youngster for years, and Strauss previously reported the team was blown away after meeting with Avdija in Atlanta. It would seem Avdija–with his size and vision–could play something of a Draymond Green-esque role off the bench with his ability to distribute.

In any case, Avdija is likely hoping he can find his way to Golden State.
