The Golden State Warriors are expected to field trade calls on the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft and could trade the pick if a star player becomes available once the 2020 playoffs end.

However, according to Wes Goldberg of the Mercury News, the Warriors are reportedly prepared to select a player no matter what the Minnesota Timberwolves do at No. 1.

Now, that could mean the Warriors are going to select a player for another team and then trade him for a star. However, it could also indicate the Dubs have a feeling that there aren't any star players to trade for this offseason and are excited to add a talented youngster to the group instead.

The Warriors will listen to pitches for the No. 2 pick, but league sources indicate they are prepared to select a player no matter what the Timberwolves do at No. 1.

That said, teams like the Cavaliers at No. 5, the Pistons at No. 7 or the Knicks at No. 8 could be inclined to move up for one of the draft’s consensus top three (Edwards, former Memphis center James Wiseman and the NBL’s LaMelo Ball) and offer the Warriors an offer too rich to pass up.

The Warriors have been heavily linked to Georgia's Anthony Edwards. Since Washington Wizards superstar shooting guard Bradley Beal is said to be off the trade market by Wizard GM Tommy Sheppard, there doesn't appear to be a star player the Warriors can acquire this offseason using the No. 2 pick.

With that being said, Warriors general manager Bob Myers and head coach Steve Kerr have to add the best player available via the draft.

Golden State should be playoff contenders again next season with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and the player they select with the No. 2 pick leading the way.
