Patrick McCaw remains in discussions with several other teams, including the Golden State Warriors, about a new contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

McCaw is still a restricted free agent after turning down two contract offers from the Warriors. He wasn’t with the club on opening night to receive his championship ring from last season and has reportedly been avoiding communication with teammates.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said a few weeks ago that the door is still open for Patrick McCaw to return to the team.

In 57 regular-season games last year, Patrick McCaw averaged 4.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 40.9 percent from the field, 23.8 percent from beyond the arc and 76.5 percent from the free-throw line for the Warriors. He did suffer a gruesome back injury and missed a bevy of games as a result.

McCaw 23, was spotted working out in a St. Louis high school gym on opening night. McCaw is from the St. Louis area. As a restricted free agent, Golden State can match any offer sheet Patrick McCaw signs with another team.

This is a really strange situation. Why wouldn't Patrick McCaw want to play for the best team in the NBA? If he wants more playing time, one could see why he'd want to join another team, especially with the emergence of Alfonzo McKinnie. However, to avoid communication with teammates and not attend ring night may indicate that something else is going on behind the scenes.
