Golden State Warriors big man DeMarcus Cousins originally wanted to make his return from his torn Achilles against his former New Orleans Pelicans squad on Wednesday night, but both Cousins and the Warriors staff thought better of it and pushed his return back to Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

However, that did not stop Cousins from getting up some shots before Golden State's game against the Pelicans:

Cousins tore his Achilles while with the Pelicans last January, just months ahead of him hitting unrestricted free agency.

Unfortunately for Cousins, interest in him on the open market was very limited, as teams simply did not want to pay top dollar for a moody big man coming off a potentially debilitating injury.

That's why Cousins eventually settled for a one-year deal with the Warriors, giving him a chance to rehab his injury while also providing him the opportunity to play for a championship in the process.

In 48 games last year, Cousins averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.6 steals over 36.2 minutes per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor, 35.4 percent from three-point range and 74.6 percent from the free-throw line.

That is certainly a special stat-line, but one has to wonder just how effective Cousins will be coming off such a serious injury. Plus, you also have to take into account that Cousins will have to assimilate himself into Golden State's offense, a difficult task in and of itself.

There is no guarantee that Cousins is going to help the Warriors, but if he is right and is able to fit in? My goodness. Watch out.
