Since he infamously made his decision not to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016 and take his talents to the Golden State Warriors, it was believed that Kevin Durant no longer has the same relationship with Russell Westbrook. The two have been the topic of a lot of headlines and even had some fiery exchanges on the court whenever their teams play against each other.
That has changed in the All-Star Game, though, as they join forces in Team LeBron as teammates once again. During the warm-ups, Durant and Westbrook were even seen having some conversations along with Boston Celtics star guard Kyrie Irving. It is truly a surprising development, as they appear to have already placed any issues they may have all in the past.
The reigning MVP and the reigning Finals MVP played together for eight seasons and formed one of the best duos in the NBA. They had a lot of success over that stretch, reaching the playoffs seven consecutive seasons, and even made it to the Finals in 2012 but ultimately lost to the LeBron James-led Miami Heat who captured the first of their back-to-back titles.
It remains to be seen how Durant and Westbrook will co-exist on the floor on Sunday. However, if they can prove that they are still familiar with each other's games, they could pull off some incredible plays which will definitely help their team's cause. It will also be an exciting sight for their fans, who have missed seeing them compliment one another and help bring out the best in them.
