Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant was just chilling with some friends and about to have his hair cut while watching the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers start the new NBA regular season. But little did he know he was about to witness Gordon Hayward’s gruesome leg injury mere minutes into the start of the game.

A video crew following Kevin Durant around caught the Finals MVP’s reaction the moment he saw Hayward’s injury, and he was visibly distraught. The Warriors forward quickly closed his eyes while covering his mouth upon seeing Hayward in pain and on the floor, and after a few moments leaned forward, still in a state of disbelief at what had happened.

Durant’s reaction was similar to every other player’s reaction during the game as it happened, particularly the Cavs’ Dwyane Wade and LeBron James.

While NBA players are fierce competitors, they obviously don’t want to see any of their peers suffering potentially career-altering injuries like the one Gordon Hayward suffered. They are a fraternity, as Durant calls it, and they are still pulling for one another when a tragedy like Hayward’s injury occurs.
