The Golden State Warriors ended their three-game road trip Saturday night in Denver, but not before shooting guard Klay Thompson got away with a blatant traveling violation that was not called by any of the game’s referees.

After the Denver Nuggets missed a shot on the other end of the floor, Kevin Durant secured the leather and threw a nicely located pass for Thompson, who was ahead of everyone else down the court. Thompson would soar for a dunk, but it was very obvious that he took more than three steps before slamming the ball. In the video, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr could be seen turning towards the back of the team bench following Thompson’s highlight play as if to say that the Warriors got lucky the referees did not notice what was obviously a turnover by his player.

Perhaps as a sign of karmic retribution, the Warriors ended up losing the game, 115-108. Klay Thompson finished with 16 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the floor, while Kevin Durant and Steph Curry had 31 and 24 points, respectively.

The Warriors knocked down 50 percent of their field goal attempts, but they shot themselves in the foot repeatedly at the free throw line, where they converted just 14 of their 23 foul shots. Golden State was not able to put a clamp on Nuggets guard Will Barton, who scored 25 points, and was not able to match Denver’s bench production. The Nuggets’ relievers outscored Golden State’s second unit, 35-19.

Thompson and the Warriors will now head back home in preparation for a marquee matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder this coming Tuesday.
