The Washington Football Team and Alex Smith are coming off their fourth straight win against the San Francisco 49ers, but it did come at a cost.

Starting quarterback, Alex Smith, left the game in the second quarter with a calf injury and did not return. Dwayne Haskins finished the game for the Washington Football Team, but struggled to get anything going offensively.

Losing Alex Smith would be a huge blow for the Football Team who has been making strides offensively. Fortunately for Washington, the X-Rays came back negative, and the calf injury does not seem to be serious according to Washington Head Coach, Ron Rivera.

The injury is on Smith's right leg which is the same leg that he suffered that devastating injury. It seems like keeping Smith on the sidelines was for precautionary reasons, and rightfully so. There is absolutely no reason to mess around with an injury that required 17 surgeries for the Washington quarterback.

Smith has been rock solid for the Football Team this season. Over Washington's four-game win streak the Football Team, Smith has a completion percentage of 69.4% and a quarterback rating of 87.1. He makes good decisions with the ball and has done just enough for the Football Team to come out victorious.

It's nice to hear that Alex Smith will be okay, but his timeline to return is still uncertain.

Next week the Washington Football Team is matched up against the Seattle Seahawks who have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. Losing Smith would be a huge blow to the Football Team's chances to take a commanding division lead.

Hopefully it is nothing serious and Alex Smith will continue to make his case for comeback player of the year in Washington. The football team has a great chance to host a playoff game, given that it has a realistic shot at a division title.
