After the New York Giants lost against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, the Washington Football Team had to win their Week 16 game against the Carolina Panthers in order to clinch the NFC East. However, with Alex Smith out of the contest with a right calf strain, former first round pick Dwayne Haskins was under center for the team.

It did not go very well for Haskins and the Washington Football Team. In fact, it was so bad that it may be the last time that Haskins is seen in a Washington jersey.

Haskins was 14/28 for 154 yards, two  interceptions, a fumble and a passer rating of 36.9, which is obviously not a very good outing for the 15th overall pick in 2019. Haskins was then benched in the fourth quarter for third string quarterback Taylor Heinicke.

Heinicke made a start for Ron Rivera's Panthers back in 2018, but he has never really been more than a backup throughout his career.

The Washington Football Team could not get anything going on Sunday and lost a golden opportunity to clinch the NFC East and book their ticket to the playoffs.

What makes this even more frustrating is that the Washington lost to a 4-10 Panthers team without Christian McCaffrey. The playoff berth was handed to the team on a silver platter and they were not able to capitalize.

Dwayne Haskins has struggled throughout his career, so Sunday's performance shouldn't come as a surprise. As a starter, Haskins now has a 3-10 career record, 12 passing touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in two seasons. Those are not the kind of numbers teams want to see from a franchise quarterback.

Lack of production on the field in combination with a lack of discipline off the field leads one to believe that Haskins days under Ron Rivera in Washington are numbered.
