Things have gone from bad to worse for the Washington Football Team. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, their opening-day starter, is no longer expected to return to the field this season.

Fitzpatrick suffered a hip injury early in Washington's Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers and was immediately placed on injury reserve after just six passes and three completions.

According to the latest report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Ryan Fitzpatrick is a long ways away from returning from his hip subluxation. He's still in the treatment stage and has yet to begin the rehab process necessary to even think of returning to the field for the Washington Football Team.

The door isn't 100% closed for Fitzpatrick just yet. But given the circumstances, with WFT in last place in the NFC East sporting a 2-6 record, there doesn't seem to be any urgency to try and salvage the season. Washington Football Team coach Ron Rivera was vocal on the QB's recovery earlier in the week.

“They looked at it, and there is some progress,” Rivera said. “Unfortunately, it's not way up, but it's progress.”

But despite the progress from the latest MRI, Ryan Fitzpatrick is reportedly still in pain from the injury several weeks after he first got hurt. Washington Football Team fans should expect to continue to see a lot more of Taylor Heinicke as the season goes along.
