The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to recover from a tough Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons when they take on the Detroit Lions at home on Sunday afternoon.

But they might have to do it without their two two receivers.

DeSean Jackson has already been ruled out with an abdominal strain, and Alshon Jeffery is listed as questionable due to a calf strain. Both wide outs sustained their injuries against the Falcons.

That means Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, and rookie JJ Arcega-Whiteside will have to step up, and it means that Carson Wentz will have to deliver.

But what should we expect from Wentz in Week 3?

Wentz had a rough outing last week, completing just 25 of his 43 passes for 231 yards, a touchdown, and a couple of interceptions, as he struggled without two of his top weapons.

With Jackson and Jeffery both potentially missing this contest, Wentz will have to find ways to get creative.

Of course, he still has tight end Zach Ertz, and the Eagles have quite a few running backs they can turn to (although they have not been all that impressive over the first two weeks).

So, Wentz is going to have to make the most of his available weapons.

Luckily for him, Detroit's pass defense has not been stout thus far, as it is allowing 281 passing yards per game, which ranks 24th in the NFL. It should be noted that the Lions ranked eighth against the pass in 2018, however, so their current struggles could just be the product of a small sample size.

Still, if rookie quarterback Kyler Murray can light up Detroit's secondary, then so can Wentz, as it's not like Murray has a ton of weapons at his disposal with the Arizona Cardinals.

I expect Wentz to bounce back and have a stronger performance at home on Sunday. He might not make many big plays with Jackson and possibly Jeffery both being sidelined, but he should at least be able to rip off chunks of yardage in an efficient manner.

He might not post a huge stat line, but I do think Wentz will do just enough to at least keep the Eagles in this game, and if Philadelphia's defense cooperates, the Eagles should have a great shot of getting to 2-1 on the season.
