Dak Prescott and Jared Goff were taken in two different parts of the draft, but will always be connected because they were both part of the 2016 draft class. Both guys have shown flashes of being one of the better quarterbacks in the league, but at times they have also struggled and shown they still have growing to do. So which quarterback is better to build a franchise around? Let's breakdown each quarterback and which one is the better franchise quarterback.

Jared Goff

Jared Goff is an interesting case because of the expectations place on him by being the number one overall pick. Goff struggled in his rookie season under Jeff Fisher throwing five touchdowns and seven interceptions during his seven starts.

After the 2016 season, the Rams made a change to Sean McVay and that's when everything changed. Goff's best season was last year where he threw for 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. This season the interceptions have been an issue throwing 14 already. Despite the turnovers, he is averaging 285.5 yards per game.

One of the big concerns regarding Goff is how he would do under a new coach. If another coach came in would Goff still have the success, or is he a product of McVay's system.

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott has a little different story getting to the NFL and if it wouldn't have been for a Tony Romo back injury, who knows if we would be in this spot.

Prescott has grown the last three seasons into this year, and this is the best one since coming into the league. On the season he has thrown for 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Lamar Jackson is having a special season but if it wasn't for him, Prescott would be talked about more in the MVP conversation.

The one concerning thing for Prescott is winning. The most important stat for a quarterback is winning games, and so far the Cowboys only have six wins.

So who is the better franchise quarterback?

Prescott has dealt with different offensive coordinators and has still had success. This might be a controversial take, but without McVay, there is probably already talk about Goff needing to be out of the league.

Prescott is also better adapting to change, and after the season he is probably going to need to adapt to a new head coach.

Even though Prescott is probably going to cost more than Goff, he is still the better choice to start a franchise around.
