The Detroit Lions will welcome the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 in a battle of two undefeated teams. Of course, many believe the Chiefs are going to win this game but can the Lions pull off the upset?

If Detroit hopes to compete with the Chiefs on Sunday, T.J. Hockenson must have a huge game for the Lions. The rookie tight end has been fairly quiet in the past two weeks but he will be needed in Week 4.

Just like 2018, Patrick Mahomes is doing anything he wants as he shreds opposing defenses. During the offseason,  people believed he'd be due for regression this season after throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns in 2018.

Instead, the gunslinging quarterback has responded by improving his play with 1,195 yards and 10 touchdowns in the first three games of the season. At one moment, you can be up 10 points on Kansas City and then the next moment, they're up double-digits after scoring three touchdowns in a blink of an eye.

As a matter of fact, Mahomes and company have scored three touchdowns in the second quarter in their past two games after facing a deficit. With Travis Kelce, Mecole Hardman, and Demarcus Robinson, the Chiefs can score in bunches and fast.

With that in mind, the Lions offense needs their entire arsenal of weapons to contribute—including their rookie tight end. The Chiefs defense is going to key in on Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones in the passing game.

Therefore, Hockenson should have opportunities to attack the Chiefs defense in the middle of the field. The Lions used the eight-overall pick in this year's draft on Hockenson for a reason.

In Week 1, the Iowa alumn began his NFL career with a memorable performance versus the Arizona Cardinals. Hockenson caught six passes for 131 yards and a touchdown in his first NFL start.

Unfortunately, Hockenson has been unable to build off of that game in the past two weeks. The versatile tight end has combined for just two receptions for eight yards in Weeks 2 and 3.

There's a decent chance that Detroit will be down or will be in a shootout with the high-flying Chiefs offense on Sunday. Therefore, Matthew Stafford will need to be surgical as he passes the ball to his pass-catching tight end.

Hockenson is the only receiving threat in Detroit's offense that poses an obvious mismatch for Kansas City's secondary. In light of that, Darrell Bevell, the Lions offensive coordinator, better be ready to utilize Hockenson more than previous weeks on Sunday.
