The Oakland Raiders are an enigma. They manhandled the Denver Broncos in Week 1. In Week 2, they started strong in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs but were held scoreless throughout the second half. Heading into Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, someone has to step up, namely an offensive player. The obvious candidate for this is wide receiver, Tyrell Williams.

The Vikings are a great defensive team, and it will show on Sunday. To help offset this, Williams will need a consistent day. In this matchup, consistency is more important than production. He will draw Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes in coverage, who is an absolute lockdown defender. In order to open things up for the Oakland offense, Williams will have to win against Rhodes consistently. Doing this will help take defensive attention away from other Raider receivers. If the former Western Oregon Wolf can help divert attention to himself, and away from others, it's a win no matter what his stat line ends up as.

The previous point becomes even more critical when looking at Minnesota's defensive depth. Slot cornerback Mackensie Alexander is questionable for Sunday's game due to an elbow injury. The next best option is cornerback Mike Hughes, who is also questionable because of an ACL tear in 2018. If neither can play, safety Jayron Kearse is likely to see time playing in the big nickel. If Oakland can get receiver Hunter Renfrow matched up with Kearse, it's a huge mismatch. Renfrow is a notoriously jittery player that is difficult for any safety to deal with. If Williams does his job, Renfrow will be matched up with Kearse with no safety help. That's a recipe for disaster for the Vikings.

Looking at Tyrell Williams' performance through the first two games, it's easy to see he is both a big-play threat and a great red-zone target. If he can utilize the latter skill, the Raiders chance for victory increases significantly. The Vikings haven't been great defending the red zone. This was proven last week against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers made it inside the Vikings 20 three times and scored a touchdown all three times. For Oakland to win this game, the Raiders have to capitalize on scoring opportunities with six points, not three. Williams has scored a red zone touchdown in two straight games, so a third is very possible.

If Williams can manage to do all these things, he changes the Raiders chances of winning. By taking the defensive attention away from his teammates and winning in the red zone, Williams completely changes the game.
