The Morris twins, Markieff and Marcus, recently went on trial for felony assault charges in Phoenix. After almost two weeks, they were both cleared and found not guilty on all accounts, and can now shift their focus once again on playing basketball.

Markieff’s Washington Wizards teammate, John Wall, was very happy with the development, especially as he knows the 6-foot-9 hybrid forward will play a crucial role again for the Wizards this coming season. Wall shared what he told Morris after the jury’s decision, via Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.

Despite the case now closed, Markieff Morris won’t be able to play yet for the Wizards, as he is slated to miss a month of action due to a sports hernia injury. His availability for the start of the season is still up in the air, although he will most likely not miss a lot of games if he recovers on schedule.

Last season, the 28-year-old Kansas product had a solid campaign for the Wizards, as he averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 steals in 31.2 minutes per game. Markieff Morris is expected to remain as their starting power forward and receive the same amount of minutes from last year.

The D.C. faithful are hoping he will not get involved in any other trouble anymore, as they need him focused on the task at hand.
