Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks says the team’s final roster spot will go to either Carrick Felix or Donald Sloan, according to NBC Sports Washington’s Chase Hughes.

The Wizards opened up another roster spot by waiving big man Daniel Ochefu after Sheldon Mac went down with an Achilles injury.

Felix and Sloan have been the standout performers among the Wizards' preseason training camp invites, which is likely why the decision for the final roster place has come down to them.

Felix, 27, is averaging 9.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals in 18 minutes per game through three preseason contests. At 6-foot-6, Felix is more similar in size to Mac and with what he’s shown in preseason, he could adequately replace some of the defensive activity Mac provided on the roster.

Sloan has the decided edge in terms of NBA experience, though. The 29-year-old has spent eight seasons as a backup point guard for five different teams in the league. He had arguably the best season of his career last season as he averaged 7.0 points and 4.4 assists in 21.6 minutes per game for the Brooklyn Nets.

Sloan is averaging nine points, 2.5 rebounds, five assists, and 1.5 steals in 26 minutes per game through two preseason appearances.
